Ranking on Google is very tough depending on you is your keyword. If you want to rank high on Google you must have a lot of links to your blog more than your competition. If you want to check how many links your competition has.
How do you find your competition? Simple Google the keyword or phrase you want to rank for than see, who is no 1, take their URL visit this page on My blog go to Back Links Analyzer tool type in the URL and see how many links your competition has.
